+ What’s the difference between C-type paper and Gicleé paper?

We use two types of high-end photographic paper:

C-type Paper: This is the type of paper that we mainly use for photography prints. We print on Fujifilm Crystal Archive Supreme paper, which is a heavier paper than most photo labs. Our C-type printer combines the very latest in digital exposure technology with a traditional chemical wet process. This Fuji printer delivers archival quality prints up to 12x18” and you can choose between two paper finishes:

  • Gloss: the traditional shiny photo prints are still a firm favourite with a smooth clean look.

  • Lustre: by far our most popular option. This is a semi-matt satin type finish. It is less reflective than Gloss, making it great behind glass.

Giclée Paper: This is an inkjet system to produce top-quality long-lasting prints suitable for display in your boardroom, in a gallery or in your front room. Here is our current range of types of paper you can choose from:

  • Gloss (270 gsm): the traditional shiny photo prints are still a firm favourite with a smooth clean look.

  • Lustre (270 gsm): by far our most popular option. This is a semi-matt satin type finish. Less reflective than Gloss making it great behind glass.

  • Ultra Matt (270gsm): a full matt paper that maintains good colour depth. It also works well with non-photographic images

  • High White Cotton (315gsm): - heavier and slightly textured, with an off-white finish. Ideal for artwork reproduction.

  • NST Bright White (315gsm): - similar to High White Cotton, but with a bright white base and more gentle texture. Great for black and white prints.

  • Canvas (340gsm): a traditional artist style canvas.
